Arete took a deep breath after ending the call. She thought that her heart had stopped beating for the duration of the call.

"How was it?" her little sister asked, "Stop the suspense and tell me," the kid continued demanding. Arete looked at her with a depressed face.

Talya sighed, "Don’t worry, you can still apply to other companies. Besides, it’s only been your fifth try. I’ve read that others even fail 20 times or so before they can get a job. "

"I actually made it. They said I could start tomorrow!" Arete suddenly announced, Talya’s eyes widened.

"Really?"

Arete glared at her sister, "why do I feel that you doubt me?" Talya chuckled and jumped at her sister for an embrace. Arete was startled, so they both ended up on the bed.

"Hey, stop doing that. You’re not small like you used to!" She started nagging, but her sister was simply giggling.

"I’m so happy for you, sis." She answered instead. Arete couldn’t help but smile. She had finally gotten a job!

"This is the start. I promise to do my job well and earn lots of money so I can buy all the books you always wanted. "

Talya got up from the bed, "but sister, besides from the books…can you get me an autograph too? I’m a huge fan of Galaxy. " Her sister looked at her with pleading eyes.

"Look at this kid. Stop using those puppy eyes on me. Study first before you fangirl! " Talya pursed her lips.

"You’re already lucky that you would be seeing them every day. Don’t you know how many girls want to be in your place? " She argued.

"Talya, I’m going there for work."

"Just one member," she raised her index finger and whined, "Even just to Euan, my favorite member. I’ll do all the chores for one month. I just want his autograph, please Arete."

"Two months, and I’ll think about it."

Talya bit her lower lip, "Deal! I’ll make it four months if you get all six too." Arete grinned.

"Fine, fine. I’ll try to ask them sometime. But before that, who’s Euan? I searched for their names and I’m pretty sure no one among them is Euan…" Talya looked at her in disbelief.

"Sis, you’re lucky that they didn’t ask you that question in that interview. You don’t even know their real names? Euan is Ulrik. "

"You’re right," she got up, "can you tell me more about their group? I don’t want to embarrass myself tomorrow. I might get fired."

Talya grinned this time, "then would you get me their autographs for free?"

"Do you want their autographs or not?" Arete returned the question. She knows her sister all too well. She already anticipated that her sister would try to get away with her promise.

"Arete, you’re doing fine. You can do this!" She muttered before entering the entertainment company. She followed the instruction given to her over the phone yesterday and now she’s waiting in the meeting room with her senior.

"Don’t be nervous, the kids are a bit of a handful but they don’t cause much trouble. They are just finishing their practice and will be here any minute." Her senior spoke since he could see Arete chewing on her lower lip out of anxiousness.

"Thank you for the advice." She’s genuinely thankful that her senior talked to him to put her at ease. She’s constantly worried that she will embarrass herself and then get kicked out before she can even explain herself.

The door opened before her senior could respond, "Oh, you’re here."

"Is she our new manager? Hello." The first one to enter greeted them. Arete remembered from Talya’s ‘Galaxy crash course’ that he’s the oldest but the bubbliest member, AL.

"Hello." She awkwardly greeted him back. The others didn’t say a word and went directly to their seats.

She discreetly looked at everyone, ‘No wonder many girls are falling for them. They all look gorgeous even though they are all sweating from the practice.’ She thought.

"This is Arete, from now on she will be your manager. Arete, this is AL, Sed, Ulrik, Trace, Rain, and Oliver, although you probably know them. Anyway, I need to excuse myself, so Sed, please lead the meeting. " The leader of the group nodded his head.

"Boys, listen to your new manager, okay?" the group lazily answered in chorus.

Arete is finally left alone with the group. She suddenly blanked out. She didn’t know what to say or do. Six pairs of eyes are waiting for her to speak. The leader of the group, Sed, noticed Arete’s uncertainty so he spoke first.

"Our new album will be dropped in 3 days, so everything will be hectic. Please take care of us." He gave a warm smile which immediately calmed her racing heart. Talya is right about him being the kindest.

"Yes, they already gave me your schedule and I already made a timetable which I could send to you once I’m added to your group chat. For now, I would summarize it for you." She started explaining even though half of the group was obviously not listening. AL is busy interrupting Oliver, their youngest. Meanwhile, Rain, who is sitting beside Oliver, is not talking but is obviously spacing out.

"Ulrik, your schedule is still in progress. They said they would give it to me later, so I’ll just relay it to you once it is in my hands. Same for you, Trace. " Ulrik simply nodded in response. He’s the busiest member, according to Talya.

She continued discussing even though she felt awkward with one of the members looking at her intently. She must be imagining things, but Trace’s stares are unsettling. She shouldn't pass judgment on someone she's just met, but his stares are strange for several reasons.

"That ends our meeting," she said with a small smile. "Please expect the timetable to be sent on your group chat later. Thank you."

Trace is the first one to stand and go out without saying anything. The others follow until only Ulrik and Sed are left with Arete.

"See you around, Miss Arete," Ulrik said before going out.

Sed gave an apologetic smile and said, "I apologize for the other kids. Don’t worry, they are always like that during meetings." Arete didn’t know if she should be relieved or stressed with Sed’s words but smiled anyway.

"Please don’t apologize. I should be thanking you instead. I was really nervous earlier, but you made me comfortable. Thank you for taking care of me." The leader smiled and finally excused himself to follow his group.

"You scared the new manager. Anyone would feel uneasy if you stared like you wanted them for dinner. " Ulrik is scolding Trace on their way to their dorm, which is just a short distance from the company.

"Sorry, I’m just hungry. Besides, it’s not my fault that she has an extraordinary scent." Trace defended himself. AL laughed at him and said, "What are you, a newborn?" Trace scratched his nape in embarrassment. He didn’t mean to be rude, it’s because he hadn’t fed for the week yet, and interacting with someone with such a scent was making his reasoning hazy.

"Her scent is really unusual though." Rain, who’d been quiet all this time, finally spoke. He didn’t listen much to the meeting; he’d simply ask Sed about his schedule later.

"They are rare, but humans with very enticing scent exist once in a while," Ulrik answered. Trace sighed. Now they have to interact with a walking temptation.

"I’m really hungry…" Trace muttered. He stared at the sky while walking along with the group. There’s rarely a star in the sky, and only the moon keeps the surroundings lit.

Their practice could exhaust even the oldest immortal. They started practicing early in the morning and finished late at night.

"I think you should hunt tonight. We’ll be very busy soon, you might lose your chance to sneak out later." Sed spoke, referring to Trace.

"Go, before you attack our manager out of hunger." Trace glared at AL, but the oldest only snickered. They really love teasing each other. Sed sighed. He wondered when AL would mature, but that moment wouldn’t probably come at this rate. They have been together for years, but it’s a rare sight to see Adriel Louise frowning or truly serious.

"Right, words are circulating that hunters are trying to focus on this area because of the number of incidents." Oliver suddenly supplied. He was intending to tell them this, but he forgot because of how busy they were. They rarely interact with other vampires, but he heard some vampires talking about it the last time he went out to hunt.

"Pesky vampires, they don’t care about others. Be careful Trace. " Euan reminded his convert. He can’t help but worry about this kind of situation. They have been really careful, especially since they entered this kind of industry. The risk of being exposed is high. They try to avoid any issues as much as they can.

Trace nodded and casually parted ways with the group.
